What the app adds

The demo generates one-octave exercises on six scales and, in one key, on three chord progressions. With the GEN app your practice becomes a path you can save and measure.

  • Over 30 scales in every key

Modes of the major and harmonic minor scales, melodic minor, pentatonic, bebop, diminished, whole-tone and chromatic scales.

  • 24 patterns

Groups of four, three and five notes, leaps of a third and a fifth, ascending and descending arpeggios to apply to any scale.

  • 18 articulations

Combinations of slurred and detached notes to suit each pattern: two slurred and two detached, three and one, and many more.

  • Two and three octaves

Longer exercises that cover the whole range you want to work on.

  • The range of your instrument

The exercise starts on the lowest note and reaches the highest note of the clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, flute, violin, trombone or guitar.

  • Save your exercises

Every exercise you generate stays in your library, ready to reopen the next time you practise.

  • Progress chart

Record the metronome speed you reach and watch it grow over time, exercise by exercise.

  • Download as PDF or image

Print the score or put it on your music stand as a PDF or PNG file.

  • Practice playlists

Line up several exercises in a single score and build your own practice session.

  • Octave transposition

Move the exercise an octave up or down with one click.

  • Chord progressions and turnarounds

Major and minor II V I, blues, Rhythm changes and nine turnarounds, in one key or in all of them, in the standard range or in that of sax, clarinet, flute and trumpet.

  • Your own chord progressions

Write your chords bar by bar, as on a lead sheet, and generate exercises on them: the scale for each chord is suggested automatically.

  • Jazz standards

A catalogue of over 1300 standards: search the tune by title or composer and generate exercises on its chords, on the whole tune or on one section, with the same materials as the chord progressions. From the saved exercise you transpose it and save it in the other keys.

  • Materials, scale patterns and chromatic approach

Roots, guide tones, arpeggios, 1 2 3 5 and 1 3 4 5 cells and scales; plus the patterns of the scale generator played on every chord and the chromatic approach from below, from above or as an enclosure.

  • Bass, piano and drum accompaniment

Listen to the exercise over double bass, piano and drums, with or without swing; switch off the line and play it yourself.

  • Tags, notes and search

Organise your archive with coloured tags, write your own notes on each exercise and find it again by searching its title.
